Workshop Workshop is a pottery studio and multipurpose making space opening on North Street in Middletown NY. It is founded by Middletown natives Alexis Tellefsen and Andrew Whiteman. At Workshop Workshop we aim to create an approachable environment for making art, learning and sharing new skills, and highlighting the talents of our community members and local Hudson Valley artists/makers.
Andrew and Alexis were both born and raised in Middletown. Alexis attended college at SUNY New Paltz and obtained her BFA in Ceramics and Andrew attended SUNY Albany getting his BS in Electronic Music Composition. Alexis is currently running a handmade pottery business from her home studio and Andrew founded UrbnSow last summer growing organic micro greens and mushrooms. Their paths have wandered around the Hudson Valley over the years but they now live together right downtown just a quick walk from Workshop Workshop and they couldn't be happier.

A small shop of handmade goods will greet you when you walk through the door of Workshop Workshop. We plan to carry a variety of small housewares and personal accessories made by NY based artists and small businesses (many of which are female-owned!). Our shop inventory is carefully chosen based on products we stand by and use in our own lives and that we know to be created thoughtfully and ethically.

Our main studio is ceramics-focused with 8 pottery wheels and lots of shelving and tables. Alexis will be joined by other talented NY-based artists to teach lessons on and off the pottery wheel that cater to both the absolute beginner who has never touched clay and the experienced potter looking to hone their skills and explore new techniques. Our studio is open to all ages and we look forward to offering introductory throwing and a children’s clay class this summer.
On the weekends we will be hosting workshops that allows us to welcome artists and makers of all different mediums into our space to teach and share their skills. Some of the upcoming events for this season include skincare workshops with Tara of Meow Meow Tweet, candle dipping with Alysia Mazzella, block printing with Erina Pearl, and pottery painting with Alexis Tellefsen.

The third element of Workshop Workshop is Alexis' private studio where she will continue to produce her ceramic line Tellefsen Atelier. For the past two years Alexis has been running her business from home but she has outgrown the confines of her studio and her business is slowly taking over the apartment. With the move into Workshop Workshop her floors will finally be clean again.
